In the periphery of Sï¿½o Paulo, the very low middle-class dysfunctional and hypocrite family of Teodoro, Clï¿½udia and the teenager Soninha have deep secrets. The religious Teodoro is indeed a hit-man, hired to kill people in the neighborhood with his friend Waldomiro. He has a lover, the very devout woman Terezinha, and he wants to regenerate, going to the country with her. Clï¿½udia has a young lover, Jï¿½lio, who delivers meats for his father's butcher shop. Soninha is a common sixteen years old teenager of the periphery, having active sexual life, smoking grass and loving heavy metal. When Jï¿½lio is killed and castrated in their neighborhood, the lives of the members of the family change.

While a skeptic might dismiss that tragedy as a statistical anomaly, every continent bears the scars of climate change, like the deforestation of the Amazon and the devastation wrought by Hurricane Katrina. In order to inject some levity, Six Degrees detours to look at a British grape grower who has actually benefited from his country\'s drier environment and the carbon footprint involved in the creation of that all-American favorite, the cheeseburger (suffice to say, it\'s considerable). While some of the special effects are hokey--Hansen sitting at a floating desk, for example--the preponderance of compelling data helps to compensate for such lapses.$
