Horizon Season 40 Episode 8

Horizon: Documentary chronicling the story of Jesse Gelsinger, a teenager who took part in a gene therapy trial using a modified flu virus. The scientific community welcomed its use, but when the experiment went badly wrong, leaving Jesse dead, it became clear that gene therapy would no longer be able to live up to the hype. The programme features interviews with Jesse's parents and an assessment of the procedure's future in light of this tragedy.
